The Commodore 64 was one of the first computers I grew up using after owning a Commdore Vic20. While I love the the sounds that it makes, it's not exactly the easiest piece of hardware to use with Reason. What I decided to do was sample the raw wave forms that it has and set them up as instruments in NN-XT. The result ended up being a Refill of 156 samples in 4 NN-XT files. There is the saw, triangle, square and noise. Also included in this refill is all of the drum sounds that I released previously in the free C64 Drum Micro Refill and they're all set up in a single NN-XT.

I decided not to include a bunch of combinators and such since I tend to create new patches with each song that I'm working on. With Reason being extremely modular, you can combine these wave forms with various other Reason modules. You could run the saw wave form through one of Thor's filters or you could go wild with the all mighty Combinator. I'll leave that part up to you.

Since so many samples were recorded, there is no stretching done except near the upper and lower octaves. The SID never really produces the same exact wave form twice and these little slices will give you that sound. If there's enough interest in this refill, I'll work on sampling various combined wave forms from the Commdore 64 and release them in a simular manner. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

I have started to put up some demos of the refill and you can listen to them below. The songs that will be shown here will use nothing but the sounds in the refill plus some Matrix Pattern Sequencers. I will be adding more songs as time goes on.
